graphic design and web design

Hello guys...!
What is the difference between graphic design and web design....? I think web designer should have a good knowledge in web tecnologies like HTML , CSS etc.....But graphic designer do not need to know those things....And both of them should be creative....Do you agree with me..? Whats your opinion....?

Graphic Design would focus on how to design graphically pleasing layouts.
Web Design would require many of the skills of a good graphic designer but also, you'd need to learn how to write web pages.

Though website design and graphic design is different but it is related. Graphic designer work concentrate more on 2D, 3D animation where as a website designer concentrate more on website structure. A website designer need to know HTML, CSS where as graphic designer may not know these.

Graphic design is the art of creating compelling two-dimensional printed works, or images, using graphic design principles and elements. Web design is a craft and sub-set of graphic design.
